This is an aggregate dataset. Source data were received from all or some of the BLM Colorado state field offices.
Visual Resource Inventory class polygons are derived from the feature classes for scenic quality, visual sensitivity level and distance zones; there are no separately defined bounding arcs. Inventories are informational an do not constitute a management class. Visual Resource Inventory is the first stage of a two stage process for visual resource management.
NOTE: This dataset is subject to update daily. Process Steps and Publication Dates are not reflected in this metadata documentation. Individual feature updates are logged automatically into the attribute table using editor tracking.
BLM's Visual Resource Management system provides a way to identify and evaluate scenic values to determine the appropriate levels of management. It also provides a way to analyze potential visual impacts and apply visual design techniques to ensure that surface-disturbing activities are in harmony with their surroundings. This is a two stage process: Inventory, Visual Resource Inventory (VRI) and Analysis, Visual Resource Contrast Rating.
