BLM Farmington Field Office October 2003 ffo_sda vector digital data withheld ffo_sda This data set contains geospatial information describing the Specially Designated Areas (SDA's) as defined in the September 2003 Record of Decision Proposed Resource Management Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement (RMP) for the Bureau of Land Management Farmington Field Office. In order to achieve a specific management goal set by the resource managers, management prescriptions were defined for each SDA; this data set contains a limited amount of these special guidelines as attributes of the polygons. This data set was created to provide spatially accurate information about the SDA's to assist in site specific planning and analysis by resource managers and/or industry professionals. This data is intended only to be a guide, however, and the appropriate resource manager should be contacted for any information regarding questionable locations. The data set was quality checked for errors and edited where necessary to make the data as accurate as possible. However, it should be understood that certain areas are difficult to define an absolute boundary for as they are dynamic in nature (ie: riparian zones, flood plains, etc.) Where two specially designated areas overlap, the specific management prescriptions for each SDA remain in effect and the more restrictive prescripitons will apply. For example, even though the management prescriptions for a cultural resource ACEC do not contain a seasonal restriction, if the ACEC overlaps an area with seasonal wildlife restrictions, the seasonal restriction will apply to both areas. Due to concerns over public access, or the locations of sensitive sites the cultural SDAs listed below have been removed from the dataset. Consultation with the Farmington BLM cultural resources staff is required if you will have a project in any of these areas. The SDAs were derived from editing existing coverages, or digitizing new polygons on screen with 2002 DOQs, DRGs, PLSS, and the most up to date surface ownership for reference and snapping puposes. The data was edited/created at 1:12,000 scale. Attributes information comes direclty from the Final September 2003 RMP. All data was created or edited with direct consultation of the Resource Specialist responsible for their respective discipline area to ensure the highest accuracy possible. Complete representation of SDA boundaries and certain attributes according to the Resource Management Plan as of September 2003 The data was edited as individual shapefiles by resource in ArcMap. It was then converted to coverages, cleaned and built in ArcInfo 8.2. Individual coverages were merged into one shapefile to allow less confusion from the display of overlapping polygons. Any polygons with "NULL" attributes were deleted from the final shapefile.
