The BLM OR Culverts Map Service represents major and minor culvert structures. According to BLM Manual 9100, a culvert is \u201ca conduit or passageway, not classified as a bridge, under a road, trail, or other facility usually consisting of a round pipe, a pipe-arch, or an open or closed bottom box or arch.\u201d Major culverts are defined as \u201ca culvert having a clear opening of more than 35 square feet or multiple installations of culverts placed adjacent or contiguous as units and having a combined clear opening of more than 35 square feet.\u201d .
