<idAbs>PLSSPOINT: PLSS Point data created by the Bureau of Land Management for the states of Oregon and Washington. This feature class is part of the Cadastral National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) CADNSDI publication data set for rectangular and non-rectangular Public Land Survey System (PLSS) data set. The metadata description in the Cadastral Reference System Feature Data Set more fully describes the entire data set (http://www.nationalcad.org/). These are the corners of the PLSS. This feature class contains summary information about the coordinate location and reliability of corner coordinate information. alternate names or aliases for corners are also included in this feature class.</idAbs>
<idPurp>This data provides the essential observed coordinate information for plss corners. This is not the complete data set for corners. These are the most current coordinates and a summary of information about the accuracy and quality of the coordinate values. Contact the identified data steward for more information.</idPurp>

<overview>
<dsoverv>The PLSSpoint feature class is intended to represent the corner positions of the PLSS. The points have been generated using measured information when available. That measured information was used in conjunction with control points (points with highly reliable coordinate information) to create an adjusted network for the PLSS. The adjustment was accomplished by using either a least square analysis or compass rule adjustment depending upon the vintage of the data. From that intial data set, additional PLSS points were calculated using PLSS subdivision methods to fill in the PLSS grid most generally to the 16th or quarter quarter section level.</dsoverv>
