publisher mapDigital This polyline feature class represents the arc features that will define the polygons for the BLM National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) Other Related Lands. Their attributes serve to store feature level metadata information for the polygon boundaries, as well as document the origin and characteristics of each arc. BLM NLCS Other Related Lands are lands not in Wilderness or Wilderness Study Areas that have been determined to have wilderness characteristics through inventory or land use planning. These lands fall into one of two categories. The first category are lands with "wilderness value and characteristics". These are inventoried areas not in Wilderness or Wilderness Study Areas that have been determined to meet the size, naturalness, and the outstanding solitude and/or the outstanding primitive and unconfined recreation criteria. The second category are "wilderness characteristic protection areas". These are former lands with "wilderness value and characteristics" where a plan decision has been made to protect them. Data within these services are a live copy of BLM Utah's enterprise production environment. Quality control is conducted annually. These arc features and their attribution are associated with the boundaries of the polygons for the BLM National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) Other Related Lands. They are purposed to establish a lineage of these polygons for future reference, as their boundaries may change over time. The logical consistency of this dataset reflects that of the source datasets. Each source dataset is run through a series of tests to verify that the data complies with the format specified in the Data Standard. ERRORS AND INCONSISTENCIES MAY STILL BE PRESENT IN THE DATA. These tests were conducted using ESRI ArcMap 10.1. The tests consisted of checking coded values for attributes against a domain of accepted values, checking that alpha-numeric values followed a valid format, and checking that numeric values were greater than zero. For the geometry, the topology was validated; however overlaps and gaps can still be found. The completeness of this dataset reflects that of the source datasets Using the implementation guidelines, GIS staff at BLM field and state offices cross-walk and clean up their data to comply with the standardized national dataset. Then, the BLM field and/or state offices submit the data to the National Operations Center (NOC), where it is compiled to produce seamless national datasets.
