This feature class depicts boundaries of the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area. As part of the John D. Dingell. Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act of 2019, congress designated San Rafael Swell Recreation Area (approximately 217,000 acres). The San Rafael Swell Recreation area features magnificent badlands of brightly colored and wildly eroded sandstone formations, deep canyons, and giant plates of stone tilted upright through massive geologic upheaval.
Data within these services are a live copy of BLM Utah's enterprise production environment. Quality control is conducted annually.
This polyline feature class represents the arc features that will define the BLM Utah Recreation Area polygons. Their attributes serve to store feature level metadata information for the polygon boundaries, as well as document the origin and characteristics of each arc.

This dataset is an aggregation from multiple datasets provided by Utah BLM field offices. The provenance, history, accuracy and quality of features may vary. The logical consistency of this dataset reflects that of the source datasets. Each source dataset is run through a series of tests to verify that the data complies with the format specified in the Data Standard. ERRORS AND INCONSISTENCIES MAY STILL BE PRESENT IN THE DATA. The tests consisted of checking coded values for attributes against a domain of accepted values, checking that alpha-numeric values followed a valid format, and checking that numeric values were greater than zero. For the geometry, the topology was validated; however overlaps and gaps can still be found.
The completeness of this dataset reflects that of the source datasets.
The positional accuracy across this dataset varies according to the source. Polygon topology is present. Data were checked to ensure there are no duplicate lines, dangle errors, or label errors and that all polygons are closed.
The San Rafael Swell Recreation Area was established by the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (Public Law No: 116-9, March 12, 2019), Title I, Subtitle C, Part II, Subpart A, Section 1221. The Act incorporates by reference an official map, which is the source for the boundary in this dataset.
