This feature class depicts boundaries of the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area. As part of the John D. Dingell. Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act of 2019, Congress designated San Rafael Swell Recreation Area (approximately 217,000 acres). The San Rafael Swell Recreation area features magnificent badlands of brightly colored and wildly eroded sandstone formations, deep canyons, and giant plates of stone tilted upright through massive geologic upheaval. Data within these services are a live copy of BLM Utah's enterprise production environment. Quality control is conducted annually.
The purpose of this polygon feature class is to show the spatial extent and boundaries for the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area.

The Act incorporates by reference an official map, which is the source for the boundary in this dataset.
