Attributes were added from CAC’s conveyance documents.Tracts outside the CNF were done the same way, but using the National Park Service’s Section coverage (they received the data from the State of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources) instead of CNF’s landnet_poly. U.S. Surveys and Mineral Surveys were entered into the system by coordinate geometry (COGO). Bearing, Distance and Area are as reported on the plats. The starting point location was either Geodetic Monumentation or shoreline location. By using the Geodetic Monuments we have the best data available. Using the shoreline (Any of the surveys that reference the use of U.S. Location Monuments as a Basis of Bearing are based on shoreline location and will be close, but not exact) the data is relative to the accuracy of the shoreline used.
