Service Description: This map service is part of the effort to implement the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management and Recreation Act. This map service displays the BLM administrative status of parcel nominations received during the Dingell Act Priority Access public comment periods, scheduled to occur biennially in even years from 2020 to 2030. The purpose of the Dingell Act public comment periods is to solicit the assistance of the public in identifying BLM lands in need of access improvement that meet the following criteria: 1) BLM-managed parcels 640 acres or larger; 2) parcels must be currently open to hunting, fishing, or other recreational purposes (i.e., no restrictive designations); and 3) parcels must have no existing legal public access or where existing public access is significantly restricted. The priority access parcel nomination data have been partitioned out by state and indicate the current administrative status of each nominated parcel. Administrative status refers to BLM’s determinations regarding whether nominated parcel locations meet the above criteria and, if so, what actions the BLM is taking to address the nominations. Many public nominations received in 2020 are still under Agency consideration, while nominations meeting criteria and determined to be a priority for access improvement have been placed on the BLM’s Priority Access List. Parcel nominations that either do not meet the Dingell Act criteria or those that have been determined to already have sufficient public access have been eliminated from further consideration by the Agency.
