Service Description: This Ground Transportation Linear Features dataset contains elements (roads and trails) of BLM’s transportation network that are managed or designated for public use. Examples include roads and trails that are managed for off-highway vehicle (OHV) (motorized) use, mountain bike (mechanized) use, and hiker/equestrian (non-motorized/non-mechanized) use. Roads and trails depicted in this dataset may be additionally limited by time and/or season. Features in this dataset may have a designated asset classification and OHV route designation and represent a trail that has been through a TMP, TTM, or equivalent process. BLM Designated Roads with OHV designations and planned mode of transport are represented in layers 0 & 1. Layers 2-5 represent the trails with known OHV use classifications or Travel Plan approved modes of transportation, while Trail layer #6 represents trails with a plan asset class of Not-Assessed to depict comprehensive BLM trail geometry with designated status. Users of this data are encouraged to verify current use limitations and restrictions on these roads with the local BLM office as restrictions may vary from what is depicted in the data. Layer #7 represents all BLM designated trails, includes all records from layers 3-6, and adds the remaining trails where OHV use or planned mode of transport is not known. Users of this data are encouraged to verify current use limitations and restrictions on these roads with the local BLM office as restrictions may vary from what is depicted in the data.
