This polygon feature class represents digitized vector data of the spatial extent and boundaries of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) designated areas of critical environmental concern (ACEC) in Arizona. This feature class was digitized from 1:24,000 scale manuscripts prepared by field office specialists or digitized on-screen and edited at 1:24:000 scale or larger by geospatial information system (GIS) specialists. In general, the ACEC dataset defines areas within the public lands where special management attention is required to protect and prevent irreparable damage to important historic, cultural, or scenic values, fish and wildlife resources or other natural systems or processes, or to protect life and safety from natural hazards. |
