Description: Visual resource inventory visual distance zones are landscapes that are subdivided into three distance zones based on relative visibility from travel routes or observation points. The three zones are foreground-middleground (fm), background (bg), and seldom seen (ss). Foreground-middleground zone includes areas seen from highways, rivers or other viewing locations which are less than 3 to 5 miles away. Seen areas beyond the foreground-middleground (fm) zone but usually less than 15 miles away are in the background (bg) zone. Areas not seen as fm, or bg are in the seldom-seen zone. These data represent the polygon features used to define the vdz.
Name: BLM CO VRI Scenic Quality Rating Unit Polygons
Display Field: SQRU_NAME
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Scenic Quality Rating Units or SQRU's measure the visual appeal of a tract of land. Public lands are given an A,B,or C rating based on the apparent scenic quality which is determined using seven key factors: Landform, vegetation, water, color, adjacent scenery, scarcity, and cultural modifications. These data represent the polygon features that define the SQRU's.

Name: BLM CO Visual Resource Inventory Classes Polygon
Display Field: VRI_AREA_ID
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Visual Resource Inventory class polygons are derived from the feature classes for scenic quality, visual sensitivity level and distance zones; there are no separately defined bounding arcs. Inventories are informational an do not constitute a management class. Visual Resource Inventory is the first stage of a two stage process for visual resource management.

Name: BLM CO VRI Sensitivity Level Rating Unit Polygons
Display Field: SLRU_ID
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Sensitivity level rating units (SLRU's) are a measure of public concern for scenic quality. Public lands are assigned high, medium or low sensitivity levels by analyzing the various indicators of public concern. For each rating unit the sensitivity level is analyized by each of the following factors: Type of users, amount of use, public interest, adjacent land uses, special areas and other factors. These data represent the polygon features that define the SLRU's.
